Club Meeting Highlights/Recap

Big thanks to Keith for writing another excellent summary!

Another great Tongue Tamers meeting this Thursday with Robert as Toast Master and Stefan as Topics Master.

Stefan ran a very creative approach to the Table Topics session asking participants to use their persuasive talents in a variety of humorous and challenging situations.

Two prepared speeches were given by Kirsten and Robert. Kirsten gave an emotional and inspirational speech regarding a family friend who had been paralyzed in a fall. This was Kirsten’s 10th speech and completed her Competent Communicators manual. Congratulations to Kirsten! Robert gave an informative speech from the Better Speaker Series regarding Evaluations designed to motivate.

The club had two guests in attendance (Bill & Patty) and both participated in excellent fashion.

Evaluations were given by Jon (For Kirsten) and Marni (For Robert).

A decision was made to postpone the Awards Banquet to a later (undetermined) date until a consensus could be reached regarding location and cost.

Keith served as General Evaluator and the meeting wrapped up slightly over time.

Club Meeting Highlights/Recap

We will start posting some quick recaps to give guests a better understanding of what occurs during our meetings. More meeting info can be found here. Big thanks go out to Keith for writing our first recap!

We had another great Tongue Tamers meeting this Thursday with Chester as Toastmaster and Peggy as Topics Master.

Danielle and Adrienne attended as guests and were excellent participants!

Peggy ran an excellent and timely but somber Table Topics session using Memorial Day as the subject matter.

Two prepared speeches were given by Kirsten and Keith. Keith’s speech focused on renewing our commitment to the club and achieving our goals heading into the TM year End on June 30th. Kirsten gave a very interesting speech using visual aids in which she presented many photographs which were taken and developed by her using “Old School” methods of development which she learned at Long Beach State.

Excellent evaluations were given by Robert (For Keith) and Stefan (For Kirsten).

Pam served as General Evaluator and the meeting wrapped up right on time as usual.

And finally, Robert reminded us all that Officer Elections will be held next week.

Testimonials

Marianne —
"My experience at the Toastmaster Tongue Tamers group opened a new door of experience and friends for me - As an educator I learned more speaking techniques that I could use with parent audiences in my profession. However, I really enjoyed being part of a group outside the field of Education that allowed me to meet other adults in other professions. Our group is small enough and allows everyone to grow in speaking and presentation skills quickly. Also, the structure and design of Toastmasters is very supportive, positive, and assures success as long as one continues to participate in the club."

William —
"Tongue Tamers has been an invaluable part of my life. I feel way more confident speaking in front of people than when I started. The warmth and passion the members and leaders show at every meeting is truly inspiring!"

Lupe —
"I joined Toastmasters because I wanted to sharpen my public speaking skills. Toastmasters taught me a systematic approach to writing, delivering and evaluating speeches. In addition, I have learned leadership skills, gained confidence and formed new friendships. I look forward to being a member for many years to come."

Sean —
"Toastmasters is an excellent place to watch and learn from good speakers and provides an encouraging environment, where you feel safe to experiment with your own speaking style."
